Thank you for contributing to Howl. This Contributor License Agreement ("CLA") clarifies the intellectual property license granted with contributions from any person or entity. By submitting a Contribution to this project, you accept and agree to the following terms for your present and future Contributions.
"You" means the individual or legal entity making a Contribution.
"Contribution" means any original work of authorship, including any modifications or additions to an existing work, that you intentionally submit to this project for inclusion in, or documentation of, any of the products managed by the project (the "Work"). "Submit" means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the project, including but not limited to pull requests, issues, and patches.
You grant to Howl LLC and to recipients of software distributed by Howl LLC a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute your Contributions and such derivative works.
You agree that Howl LLC may license your Contributions under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3.0, AND under separate commercial or proprietary license terms, at Howl LLC's discretion. This relicensing and dual-licensing right is an essential purpose of this CLA.
You grant to Howl LLC and to recipients of software distributed by Howl LLC a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work. This license applies only to those patent claims licensable by you that are necessarily infringed by your Contribution alone or by combination of your Contribution with the Work to which you submitted it. If any entity institutes patent litigation against you or any other entity alleging that your Contribution, or the Work to which you contributed, constitutes direct or contributory patent infringement, then any patent license granted to that entity under this CLA terminates.
You represent that:
- You are legally entitled to grant the above licenses.
- Each of your Contributions is your original creation, or you otherwise have sufficient rights to submit it under these terms.
- If your employer has rights to intellectual property that you create, you have received permission to make the Contributions on behalf of that employer, or your employer has waived such rights for your Contributions.
Your Contributions are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. You are not expected to provide support for your Contributions, except to the extent you choose to do so.
This CLA does not create an employment, agency, partnership, or joint venture relationship between you and Howl LLC.
A Developer Certificate of Origin (DCO) sign-off alone is not sufficient for contributions to this project, because the DCO does not grant the relicensing rights described in Section 2.
