The Oral Health and Disease Ontology is intended as a BFO and OBO
33-
Foundry compliant ontology for the oral health domain. It is currently
34-
used to represent the content of dental practice health records and is
35-
intended to be further developed for use in translation medicine. It
36-
demonstrates a principled split between billing codes as information
37-
entities and what the codes are about, such as dental procedures,
38-
materials, and patients.

OHD is structured using BFO uses terms from OGMS, OBI, IAO and FMA. In
41-
addition it uses terms from CARO, OMRSE, NCBITaxon, and a subset of
42-
terms from the Current Dental Terminology (CDT)

OHD is in early development and subject to change without notice.

The Oral Health and Disease Ontology (OHD) contains terms for representing oral-health maladies, their diagnosis, and treatment. It is has been used to represent the content of dental practice health records as well as dental fear and anxiety assessments. It is intended to be further developed for use in translation medicine. The OHD demonstrates a principled split between billing codes as information entities and what the codes are about, such as dental procedures, materials, and patients and reuses terms from other OBO Foundry Ontologies, such as BFO, OGMS, OBI, IAO and UBERON.
