Create, watch and play in 3D on the screen you already have

The Stereo Desktop in 3D: the open menu in front, the windows behind stepping back, the wallpaper deepest (red-cyan anaglyph)

Hi, I'm Daniel Campos Ramos, an electrical engineer from Brazil.
I build Sparky Stereo OS, my edition of SparkyLinux (by Paweł "pavroo" Pijanowski).
It is a Linux desktop where you paint, edit photos and video, study molecules and globes, watch films and play games in 3D.
A 3D TV works, so does any ordinary monitor with cheap red-cyan glasses, and now a compatible Android phone in an inexpensive viewer.

Why

3D always had a common standard on the cable and on the disc, never inside the computer.
So every game, player and headset built its own bridge, and when NVIDIA ended 3D Vision in 2019, the 3D in many PC games went with it.
Sparky Stereo OS puts that common ground in the desktop itself: a program hands over its two pictures once, and the system shows them on whatever 3D screen you have.

The internet is a success because it is free.
The same must go for 3D content.
We patent nothing. We publish everything. We build in the open.

Where it is today

  • In development: the first ISO is still being prepared, and testers are signing up in nine languages.
  • Every fix also goes to the project it belongs to, so other Linux systems get it too. Universal Media Server, HandBrake, MKVToolNix and mpv have already merged my 3D fixes, and more are in review, FFmpeg among them.
  • In October 2026, IANA registered three identifiers I proposed for depth layers in Matroska 3D video.

Who builds it

Me, with AI partners, because the work spans the whole system, from the kernel to the apps, and no developer came forward to carry it.
Human contributors are joining, and everyone is credited by name in the project's credit.

About me

I grew up in a low-income family from the state of Ceará and now live in a Brazilian favela, knowing that my mother studied by candlelight to grow in life.
Nelson Mandela put that lesson in words: "It always seems impossible until it's done."
I have worked in IT for more than twenty years and have volunteered for SparkyLinux since 2018.
I also chair the W3C PM-KR Community Group, and I designed Knowledge3D, where people and AI share 3D houses of memory: software is a place, not a window.
Canada is still my goal, as an engineer.

What your sponsorship pays for

  1. The 3D screens, glasses and viewers I test every output on.
  2. The AI partners that let one person work across the whole system.
  3. My time, so this stays full time and free for everyone.

Any dollar you sponsor is multiplied by my country's exchange rate.
SparkyLinux, the system all of this builds on, takes donations too: sparkylinux.org/donate.
If you cannot sponsor, a star on the project or a note about your 3D gear in the beta call helps too.

What can we do after a door is closed?
Open all windows.
