Fine-tune opacity, position, or use your own image via settings.json:
{
"animeTheme.background.enabled": true,
"animeTheme.background.opacity": 0.15,
"animeTheme.background.anchor": "center",
"animeTheme.background.path": ""
}Tip: Lower the
opacityvalue (e.g.0.08) for a more subtle background that doesn't interfere with readability. Set"animeTheme.background.path"to a custom image path to use your own wallpaper.
The 0.1.2 source fix uses vscode.env.appRoot instead of deriving the installation path from the extension-host executable. This addresses incorrect background paths on macOS Code Helper processes and versioned Windows installs. It also prefers workbench.desktop.main.css, with workbench.web.main.css as a fallback.
The generic installation error can still indicate real write-permission problems. Path fixtures pass on Linux, Windows and macOS CI, but a real macOS background installation has not yet been confirmed. If installation still fails with 0.1.2, include your VS Code version and the [Anime Theme] Path Detection console lines in the existing issue, removing personal folder names first. Do not disable OS security protections to work around an unknown error.
After the release-preparation PR is merged, pull the default branch (master, not main), then use Node.js 22:
git switch master
git pull --ff-only
npm ci
npm test
npm run packagenpm run package compiles the extension and uses the pinned VSCE tool to create anime-theme.vsix. Install that file with Extensions > ... > Install from VSIX... and test background installation before uploading it manually to the Marketplace publisher dashboard. Confirm the package version is 0.1.2. There is no automatic Marketplace publishing step.
CI performs clean install, compile, tests and VSIX packaging on Linux, Windows and macOS. Its successful build checks are not a substitute for testing a real VS Code background installation. See CHANGELOG.md for release changes.
Each of the 9 themes includes 200+ carefully crafted color definitions covering:
- Editor Colors β background, foreground, selection, current line highlight, and indentation guides
- Syntax Highlighting β keywords, strings, functions, classes, variables, operators, and comments
- UI Elements β activity bar, sidebar, panel, status bar, tabs, breadcrumbs, and input fields
- Terminal β custom 16-color ANSI palette matched to the theme's aesthetic
- Git Decorations β modified, added, deleted, untracked, and conflict indicators
- Widgets β autocomplete dropdowns, hover tooltips, and notification banners
- Symbol Icons β file types, classes, interfaces, methods, and variables
All themes support VS Code's built-in override system. Add per-theme overrides to your settings.json:
{
"workbench.colorCustomizations": {
"[Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo Satoru]": {
"editor.background": "#0A0E14"
}
},
"editor.tokenColorCustomizations": {
"[Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo Satoru]": {
"comments": "#6E7681"
}
}
}This works for every theme in the pack β just replace the theme name in brackets.
