Why

Git plugin installation requires Settings. Users need an install command in the desktop app.

What

Expose the existing plugin CLI through the desktop executable. Add plugin install-git REPO REF [PATH] [--enable]. Track this work in NEXUS-3717.

How

Use the existing Git importer and plugin manager. Save the source for later updates in Settings. Commit install and enable under one registry lock. Read the configured SSH agent with ssh -G. The command exits before desktop startup or identity access.

Risk

The SSH lookup evaluates local SSH configuration, including Match exec. Only its agent socket reaches the restricted Git transport. Windows console attachment needs a Windows test.

Testing

On macOS, run the desktop executable against a disposable profile and the published Nexus Git release. Install with an invalid inherited SSH socket, repeat without --enable, and retry with it. Confirm the saved Git source and enabled states. A missing Git ref leaves registry bytes unchanged.

OpenSSH 9.2 and 10.3 expand home paths, environment references, and percent tokens in ssh -G output. Keep those expanded values intact so literal percent paths remain valid.

  • A human runs the install command in a disposable profile and confirms the result.
