Every query parameter is treated as a label name/value pair. All supplied labels must match; there are no implicit labels or special key names. The endpoint follows the existing evidence-read authentication and authorization rules.
Behavior and validation
Badge status is red for not-satisfied, green for satisfied when no failures are present, and grey for unknown—including when no evidence matches.
Requires at least one label and enforces a configurable maximum number of query parameters.
Rejects empty names or values, repeated keys (including case-insensitive duplicates), malformed queries, and names or values that are invalid UTF-8, longer than 255 characters, surrounded by whitespace, or contain control characters.
Returns image/svg+xml with Cache-Control: no-store.
Configuration and documentation
Adds CCF_EVIDENCE_BADGE_MAX_PARAMS, defaulting to 3; it must be a positive integer. The setting is documented in .env.example and README.md. Swagger documentation is updated as well.
Tests
Adds unit tests for label parsing and validation, SVG output, status aggregation, and configuration loading. Adds an integration test covering label matching, latest evidence behavior, response headers, status outcomes, and configured parameter limits. The tests are in evidence_badge_test.go and evidence_badge_integration_test.go.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added an evidence compliance badge endpoint that returns an SVG showing whether matching evidence is satisfied, not satisfied, or unknown.
Badge results can be filtered by labels; invalid or duplicate labels are rejected, and busy requests may be rate-limited.
The maximum number of labels is configurable and defaults to three.
Documentation
Added guidance on badge filters, validation, colors, caching, and access requirements.
The API adds a configurable evidence compliance badge endpoint. It validates label query parameters, retrieves matching evidence status counts, and returns a colored SVG badge.
Changes: Evidence Compliance Badge
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Configure the label limit internal/config/*, .env.example
The configuration defaults the maximum label parameter count to three. It accepts positive integer overrides and rejects invalid values.
Register, validate, and serve badges internal/api/handler/*, internal/service/relational/evidence/*, README.md
The evidence handler registers the badge route, validates label parameters, and builds an AND filter. The status-count query receives the request context. The endpoint returns an SVG with status colors and Cache-Control: no-store. Tests and documentation cover the endpoint behavior.

- Implemented ComplianceBadge handler to generate SVG badges based on evidence status.
- Updated README.md to document the new badge functionality and its parameters.
- Added integration and unit tests for the compliance badge functionality.
…mprove error handling in compliance badge
- Component-count guard (evidence_badge.go): added countComplianceBadgeQueryComponents and check raw query before url.ParseQuery/param-map building, rejecting counts exceeding h.badgeMaxParams as 400.
- Context propagation (evidence_badge.go, evidence.go, service.go): GetStatusCountsAtPoint now accepts context.Context first and applies WithContext(ctx) to its GORM query; handlers pass ctx.Request().Context().
- Updated existing integration tests to new signature.
Unit badge tests and integration-tagged vet pass.

Bound query processing before acquiring a badge slot.
Concurrent anonymous requests with long runs of & can allocate large slices before the four-request limit applies. On a 64-bit server, 900,000 separators require about 14 MB per request. This can cause memory pressure and delay other API requests. Acquire a slot before parsing and count components without splitting the query into a slice.
