Summary

  • New site setting Let signed-in users register repositories (access.allow_user_repositories), off by default; older settings read as off, so deploying changes nothing until an administrator turns it on.
  • Per-repository managers: a user who registers a repository manages it. Managers and administrators can use every ?repo= management route and add or remove managers (including themselves) via POST /sourcegraph/api/admin/v1/repo/managers. Site-wide routes stay administrator-only.
  • Repository details return can_manage, plus creator and managers for signed-in callers; the overview shows them, with search to add managers (GET /sourcegraph/auth/users/search).
  • Fetch failures now distinguish GIT_REPOSITORY_UNAVAILABLE and explain which token to configure, with a link to the code-source token settings.

Test plan

  • go test ./... (new end-to-end HTTP test with signed-in sessions, service, settings and error classification tests)
  • bun run check, bun run build, public artifact audit

- Site setting access.allow_user_repositories (default off; older records read as off)
  lets signed-in users register repositories.
- Per-repository managers: the creator manages by default; managers and site admins
can use every ?repo= management route and add/remove managers, including themselves.
- Repository details show the creator and managers to signed-in users; people search
  for choosing managers.
- Clone failures distinguish a missing or invisible repository and guide the creator
  to their code source token.

A repository manager lost edit access and the people list after saving
settings or enabling/disabling: PATCH returned the bare repository without
can_manage, creator and managers, and the page replaced its state with it.

The floating mongo:8 tag moved to an image whose container exits on start
on hosted runners, failing the databases job. Pin the last passing digest
and print the container log if MongoDB never becomes primary.

The digest pinned earlier is no longer pullable; use the 8.0 release line.

ubuntu-latest moved to Ubuntu 26.04, whose Linux 6.19+ kernel MongoDB
refuses to start on (SERVER-121912). Keep mongo:8 and run this job on 24.04.
