Transcript anchors and matching server/pi-delivery.ts, server/pi-tree.ts, server/pi.ts, server/pi-delivery.test.ts, server/pi.test.ts |
Captures transcript identity and position before submission. Matches exact user text in later active-branch records, in receipt order. Tests cover duplicate text, unrelated records, branch changes, and file rewrites. |
Server receipt lifecycle server/core/pending.ts, server/core/server-core.ts, server/core/terminals.ts, server/pending-input.contract.test.ts, DESIGN.md, changelog.d/pi-chat-transcript-receipt.md |
Creates connection-scoped receipts for Pi chat sends and reconciles them when transcript changes. Receipts are consumed after matching transcript appends; target changes and connection closure affect confirmation and receipt ownership. |
Receipt state and display shared/protocol.ts, src/lib/pendingMessages.ts, src/components/PendingMessages.tsx, src/lib/i18n.*.ts, src/lib/pendingMessages.test.ts, src/components/*test* |
Adds the consumed outcome and client states for pending or unavailable transcript confirmation. Restored receipts become non-server-owned copies, and the UI omits resend controls for sent receipts. |

Issue
#1793requirements are implemented. Pi receipts are created only for Ovis Chat sends, remain visible withpi_transcript_pending, and are removed only aftermatchPiDeliveriesfinds the matching user text after the captured byte boundary on the same path, session, file, prefix, and active branch. Target changes producepi_transcript_target_changed; unresolved anchors producetranscript_unconfirmed; both retain a non-resendable copy. Receipt publication is scoped to the owning connection. Terminal-line sends do not create receipts. The added delivery, contract, persistence, and component tests cover the required cases.

…stopped before anything is typed (#1799) ## Summary - `server/core/composer.ts`, the OpenCode `@skill` typing in `submitText`: every write already passed the sender's check as herdr's write guard. Two problems remained. - The check dropped the refusal. - `typed` was set as soon as the check before a write passed, before herdr was reached. - What a sender revoked or switched to watching while the first piece was on its way got: `submit_partial`, "Part of the message was typed into OpenCode's input, but sending was not confirmed... Check the terminal", even though nothing was typed. - Now: - `typed` is set only once herdr's guard lets a write through: the skill writes go through a `SkillAttachIo` that marks it. - The check records its refusal (`read_only`, `device_revoked`, or `submit_timeout`). - A send that typed nothing fails with that refusal. Once something is typed, `submit_partial` stays as before. - The same pattern as #1796 and #1798. - `server/opencode-first-message.contract.test.ts`: `answers a sender that switched to observe while its @skill was on its way with its own refusal, typing nothing`. - It uses the file's verified OpenCode 2.0.32 stand-in. The sender's connection switches to observe right before `@effect` reaches the isolated test herdr, and the real RPC then asks the guard. - It expects `read_only`, and that no write went through and the stand-in received nothing. - The file's pane and connection setup moved into `openCodePane` and `connect`, shared with the first-message cases. - `changelog.d/opencode-skill-refusal.md`. ## Verification - On main the new test fails: the submit answers `submit_partial`. It passes with this change. - `server/opencode-first-message.contract.test.ts` 5/5, `server/submit.contract.test.ts` 88/88. - Unit tests in `server/core`, `server/opencode-skill-attach.test.ts`, `server/opencode-native.test.ts` and `server/conventions.test.ts`: 145/145. - Typecheck, `bun run check fast`. Not changed here: queued delivery types skills through its own guard in `server/core/pending.ts` (open PR #1795 touches that file).
…#1800) ## Change Fixes #1628. This picks up #1629, which was closed only to wait for the terminal refactor; that refactor moved the code to `src/lib/useTerminalMount.ts`. In Direct typing, a long IME composition (Gboard's voice typing sends one, growing with every word) made the browser scroll the terminal host sideways to keep xterm's helper caret in view. The whole grid slid off to the left and stayed there. On main at 412 px wide, `.pane-terminal.scrollLeft` became 181. #1534 added `setTextAreaViewportBounds`, which confines the helper textarea and the preedit to the visible mount. `syncInputViewport` applied it only to mirrored, observed and followed grids, and a grid this browser drives kept stock xterm. It now applies the same bounds to every grid. A driven grid fits its mount, so for ordinary typing the bounds change nothing. They only stop the sideways scroll and keep the preedit inside the visible terminal. **Tradeoff:** a preedit longer than the room to the right edge is now clipped at that edge, using #1534's own clipping. Before, the grid scrolled to show it whole. The committed text still reaches the pane in full. **Design precedent:** this follows #1534's rule in DESIGN.md ("its input caret and IME preedit stay inside the visible mount"), which already rests on the comparison with Zed's terminal, now for every grid. DESIGN.md is changed by four open PRs (#1427, #1650, #1714, #1795), so its paragraph, which still names only mirrored and observed grids, is left for a follow-up instead of being edited here. ## Validation `scripts/terminal-composition-regression.ts` is #1629's script, run by `scripts/ui-contexts-checks.ts`, with its storage key and temp names moved to the Ovis names the conventions test requires. It covers 412 and 720 px wide, Input line and Direct typing, and the default font and the bundled "JetBrains Mono Web". After a long `Input.imeSetComposition`, it checks that: - the page and `.pane-terminal` stay at scroll 0; - the composition box ends inside the grid; - the grid is the pane's width, less padding and less than one cell. Results: - On main it fails with `412 direct default font: the terminal is not pushed sideways (181)`. With this change it passes all 8 cases. - These pass under one `bun run check run --build` (isolated herdr): `ui-contexts-regression.ts` (98 PASS, the new check included), `ui-regression.ts` (72), `terminal-input-regression.ts` (3, with its composition checks) and `mirror-scroll-demo-regression.ts` (3). - `bun run check fast` passes: typecheck, build, and 6308 unit tests with 0 failures. - A gate review on a different model approved it. Its notes: the check emulates a phone at both widths and does not wait for the bundled font to load, and layout cost was not measured. - **Not run:** a physical phone keyboard; this was exercised through CDP IME events only.
…upports (#1805) Fixes the "before the capability snapshot arrives" half of the MEDIUM item in #1591. ## Summary - `src/lib/ws.ts` `HerdrSocket.submit`: a send waits at most `SNAPSHOT_WAIT_MS` (2 s) for the snapshot that lists what the bridge supports. When the wait ended without it, `features` was still empty, so a current bridge that takes `submit` was treated as an older one: - the message went out as raw typed input (`payload` + `\r`); - it skipped every check the bridge makes before typing (Claude's input-box draft check, `agent.prompt`, the sender's authority, the typing settle); - it came back `{ ok: true, unconfirmed: true }`, so the composer cleared the draft. Now a send whose wait ends before the snapshot returns `not_transmitted` with nothing sent. This is the same result the method gives when its liveness probe fails; `submitNotTyped` keeps the composer text for it, with the existing "Not sent: ... Send it again." note. - An older bridge still sends a snapshot (with no features), so once it is known such a bridge gets the raw send as before. - `pendingAction` and `sendSecret` have the same wait but send nothing before a snapshot, so they are unchanged. - `src/lib/ws.test.ts`, with fake timers: a socket that opens without a snapshot, a send, then 2 s. The send must come back `not_transmitted` with no `submit`, `input` or `keys` frame. - `changelog.d/submit-before-snapshot.md`. The composer's existing note for `not_transmitted` says the connection dropped, which is loose when only the snapshot was late. "Not sent" and "Send it again" are right. A note of its own would need new i18n strings, so it is left as is. Follow-up: #1806. Not changed here: the other half of that #1591 item. A send to a bridge that is genuinely older (no submit receipts) is still reported `unconfirmed`. Keeping its text as uncertain needs `src/lib/pendingMessages.ts`, which open PR #1795 changes. ## Design precedent None applies. This changes how the client decides what the bridge supports on the wire. It adds no new UI: the composer shows its existing not-sent state and keeps the text, as it already does when a connection drops before a message leaves. ## Verification - On main the new test fails: the send comes back `{ ok: true, unconfirmed: true }` and the message was written as raw input. It passes with this change. - `src/lib/ws.test.ts`, `src/lib/machineSession.test.ts`, `src/lib/compose.test.ts`, `src/conventions.test.ts`: 150/150. Typecheck. `bun run check fast`.
…ion, in the not-sent note (#1808) Fixes #1806. ## Summary - `src/lib/ws.ts`: when `submit` waits `SNAPSHOT_WAIT_MS` and the bridge's snapshot still has not said what it supports (#1805), it now returns its own result, `capabilities_unknown`, instead of `not_transmitted`. Nothing is sent either way. - `src/lib/compose.ts`: `capabilities_unknown` is listed in `submitNotTyped`, so the composer keeps the text as for `not_transmitted`. `submitNote` gives it its own note, "Not sent: this PC has not said yet what it supports. Send it again.", in place of "the connection dropped". - `src/lib/i18n/composer.{ko,ja,zh}.ts`: that note in Korean, Japanese and Chinese, next to the `not_transmitted` entry. - Tests: the `ws.test.ts` case from #1805 now expects `capabilities_unknown`. `compose.test.ts` checks that it counts as nothing typed, and checks its note. - `changelog.d/submit-snapshot-note.md`. Not changed here: `src/components/PendingMessages.tsx` lists the codes whose held-copy row shows `submitNote`. Open PR #1795 changes that file, so a held-copy resend refused this way still shows "Not sent: {message}" with the result's English message. The three `src/lib/i18n/composer.*.ts` files are also changed by open PR #1714 (different entries). ## Design precedent None applies. This names the right cause in an existing not-sent note. No new UI. ## Verification - On main the two tests fail: the send returns `not_transmitted`, and `submitNotTyped("capabilities_unknown")` is false. They pass with this change. - `src/lib/ws.test.ts`, `src/lib/compose.test.ts`, `src/lib/machineSession.test.ts`, `src/conventions.test.ts`: 172/172. Typecheck. `bun run check fast`.
## Change Fixes #1559. It picks up #1560, which was closed only to wait for the terminal refactor, and follows the design the maintainer set on the issue. The desktop terminal ignored herdr's `[ui] copy_on_select`, and with it off a selection could not be kept: - Letting go of a drag always copied. - herdr's attach stream turns on any-motion mouse reporting. xterm.js clears its selection on every report, so the first hover after the release dropped the highlight and the **Quote in message** offer. The next Ctrl+C then sent `^C` to the pane. **Behaviour**, as herdr's TUI does (`mouse.rs` and `input.rs`, quoted on the issue): - **Copy on (herdr's default):** unchanged. Letting go copies, and the first pointer move clears the copied highlight, so Ctrl+C interrupts again and the next click reaches the program. - **Copy off:** letting go only selects, and the clipboard is not touched. While a selection exists, buttonless moves over the grid stop before xterm, so the highlight and the quote offer stay until a press, a scroll or a key. Ctrl+C or Copy then copies herdr's full range, including rows scrolled out of view, as before. - **An explicit copy made before herdr has sent the drag's text** (Ctrl+C, Cmd+C or context-menu Copy) reserves a clipboard write for that text in the same gesture. Before, the copy's own clearing of the selection dropped herdr's answer and left only the visible rows. Native copy still writes the visible rows at once as the fallback. This also covers Ctrl+C right after a release in copy-on mode, where the release's reserved write was cancelled the same way. The gate review found this with copy off. As the design on the issue says, leaving the pane before herdr answers cancels that explicit copy, and the clipboard keeps the visible rows. Leaving counts any change of the terminal's pane, or of whether it is active, presented, shown or the chat view, even when the user comes back. The hook counts these on each commit, so `PaneTerminal.tsx` is unchanged. The copy made on release still finishes as on main. - **Until the preference is known,** letting go copies nothing. A failed read is tried again when the terminal next mounts, when the browser comes back online, and on the first frame after a reconnect. Only an older server, which answers 404 `not_found` for the route, means herdr's default (on). **Server** (the small contract additions this PR owns): - `GET /api/herdr-ui` returns only `{ copy_on_select: boolean }` (`HerdrUiConfig` in `shared/protocol.ts`), with `no-store`. It is read again on each request, behind the token gate. A watching device may read it, because read-only devices select too. Remote PCs need nothing: the preference is the web UI host's, for every pane, like the sidebar config. - `server/herdr-ui.ts` reads it through `readHerdrConfig()`, which is now exported from `server/herdr-sidebar.ts` and shared with the sidebar rows. It is the sidebar's existing safe read: - regular file only, opened non-blocking (a FIFO can't block the event loop); - 1 MiB cap; - herdr's line-start BOM stripping. Anything missing, unreadable, not TOML, or not a boolean gives herdr's default. - The demo transport answers the route. **Not handled** (from the second review on the issue): - When another setting is invalid, herdr ignores the whole config, so herdr copies (all defaults) while this reads `false`. herdr shows its own parse error then. - A `HERDR_CONFIG_PATH` set only in the user's shell is not seen by the service, the same as for the sidebar rows. **Design precedent:** herdr's own TUI, as traced on the issue: copy on release only with `copy_on_select` on, no hover moves to a pane that holds a selection, and Ctrl+C copies a kept selection. #1560 cited Zed's configurable terminal copy-on-select. This also corrects #1560's regression the maintainer found: in copy-on mode the selection is no longer kept through hover. DESIGN.md is changed by four open PRs (#1427, #1650, #1714, #1795), so the behaviour is written in `docs/guide.md` and the changelog fragment instead. ## Validation - **New `scripts/terminal-copy-off-regression.ts`,** run by `ui-contexts-checks.ts`. It runs its own server with a temp config set to `copy_on_select = false`, and the pane runs on the isolated test herdr. - **Checks:** the route answers `false`; a drag shows **Quote in message** but leaves the clipboard unchanged with no "copied" note; four hover moves keep the selection; Ctrl+C copies it. - **Second case (event-controlled):** it holds herdr's `/api/pane/selection` answer until Ctrl+C has been pressed, then answers and waits until no clipboard write is pending. The clipboard must hold herdr's text. Without the explicit-copy fix it held only the visible rows. - **Third case:** the same, but Ctrl+C is followed by a click on another pane's sidebar row, and herdr answers only once that pane's text shows. The clipboard must keep the visible rows. Without the cancellation it held herdr's text. - **Failed before the fix** in both pre-fix states: - main's terminal: there is no preference read; - a variant that reads the preference but keeps main's copy behaviour: `with copy_on_select off, letting go of a drag copies nothing`, because the clipboard held the dragged text. - **`scripts/terminal-copy-regression.ts`** (copy on) now waits for the preference answer (`true` with no config) and still passes every case: plain drag copy, Ctrl+C, scrolled drag over herdr's range, denied clipboard, and stale or empty responses. - **Under one `bun run check run --build`:** - `ui-contexts-regression.ts` passes (100 PASS, both copy checks included); - `terminal-arrows-clicks-regression.ts` passes; - the route's contract test passes: 401 without a token, 200 with `no-store`, re-read after a config edit, 400 for POST; - the watch-device contract passes, and a watch device reads the route. - **Unit tests:** - `server/herdr-ui.test.ts` covers values, CRLF, line-start BOMs, invalid values, other tables, missing and directory paths, an oversize file and a FIFO; - `src/lib/herdrUi.test.ts` covers copying off until known, the 404 fallback, failed reads staying unknown, kept values and one read in flight; - `server/herdr-sidebar.test.ts` still passes after the shared read was extracted. - **`bun run check fast`:** 6331 pass, 0 fail.
…s_unknown resend (#1811) Fixes #1809. ## Summary - **Cause:** `src/components/PendingMessages.tsx` lists the error codes whose held-copy note comes from `submitNote`. `capabilities_unknown` (from #1808) was not in that list. - **Symptom:** a held copy sent again before the bridge's snapshot said what it supports showed `t("Not sent: {message}")` with the result's English reason. A Korean, Japanese or Chinese page showed the English sentence after its translated "Not sent:", not the note #1808 translated. - **Fix:** add `"capabilities_unknown"` to that list, as the issue prescribes. The row now shows "Not sent: this PC has not said yet what it supports. Send it again." in the page's language. Send now stays, and the row is still not marked uncertain. - **Test:** `src/components/PendingMessages.test.tsx` renders a held row that failed with `capabilities_unknown` in ko, ja and zh. It asserts that the translated note is shown, that Send now stays, and that the English reason is absent. **No new i18n keys.** The note is already in `src/lib/i18n/composer.{ko,ja,zh}.ts`, from #1808. **No changelog fragment.** #1808 is not released yet (it came after 0.4.13). Before #1808 this case returned `not_transmitted`, which the list already translates, so released users never saw the English reason. #1808's fragment (`changelog.d/submit-snapshot-note.md`) already describes the corrected note. **Overlap:** open PR #1795 edits line 79 of `PendingMessages.tsx`, right above the changed line 80, and also edits the test file. A rebase there may need a small manual merge. **Not changed (follow-up note from the gate review):** - `agent_blocked`, `read_only`, `submit_timeout` and `pending_input_unsupported` also have their own `submitNote` texts. - On a held row they still show the result's own reason after "Not sent:". The existing test "keeps the server's reason for other refusals" pins that for `agent_blocked`. - Whether they should change is a separate decision, so this PR leaves them as they are. ## Design precedent None applies. This shows an existing translated note in one more case. There is no new UI. ## Verification - **On main, the new test fails:** the Korean page shows `보내지 않음: this PC has not said yet what it supports; nothing was sent`, not the translated note. - **With the change:** - `src/components/PendingMessages.test.tsx`, `src/lib/compose.test.ts` and `src/conventions.test.ts` give 64 pass; - `bun run check fast` passes: 6331 pass, 0 fail. - **Not run in a browser.** No existing script can hold back the bridge's snapshot after a reconnect. The test renders the real component with the real translations. - **Gate review (omo-native-gate-reviewer): APPROVE.** It reproduced the tests and checked that `agent` still reaches `submitNote`.

## What this does for the user Files pasted or attached in the browser are saved in `<pane cwd>/.ovis/` so the agent can read them without a permission prompt. Until now every upload showed up as an untracked change in the project's `git status`. The default `.ovis` folder now ignores itself. Right after the server creates the folder, it writes a `.gitignore` containing `*`. The file is created exclusively (`wx`, mode `0600`), so: - an ignore file already in that folder, or a symlink at that path (dangling or not), is never followed, read or replaced (only `EEXIST` is tolerated); - any other create error fails the upload with an error instead of returning a path; - a folder set through `OVIS_PASTE_DIR` (trimmed, `~` expanded, even one equal to the default path) is the user's own and gets no ignore file. Ignored files still open by their explicit path, and the path the prompt names is unchanged. Known trade-off, raised in review: Git-backed `@` file completion lists files with `git ls-files --exclude-standard`, so in a Git project a pasted file no longer appears there. Looking it up by path or bare name still works. Keeping pastes out of the project's Git view is the purpose of this change, so the PR keeps it. ## Why This was a local-only branch (`fix/default-paste-gitignore`) that was never pushed. It is rebased onto current main and ported to the `.ovis` / `OVIS_PASTE_DIR` names from #1648. On main the paste route still only does `mkdirSync`, so the bug still reproduces there. It does not overlap with #1795, which changes only Pi delivery and pending-message files and touches neither `server/paste.ts` nor its tests. ## How it was verified - `server/paste.test.ts` and `server/file-view.test.ts`: all 49 pass. They cover the self-ignoring default folder, the temp-dir fallback, an existing ignore file and file or dangling symlinks kept byte for byte, overrides (trimmed, `~`, equal to the default) getting no ignore file, and an unwritable folder reporting `EACCES`. - The `POST /api/pane/image` contract tests run on an isolated herdr session against a temporary Git project: - `git status` is empty after two concurrent uploads; - `git check-ignore` names each returned path, and the bytes read back through `/api/fs/file`; - concurrent uploads keep a custom ignore file and file or dangling symlinks; - overrides get no ignore file; - an unwritable folder answers 500 with no path. - `bun run check fast` - Reviews: `omo-native-code-reviewer` found no HIGH findings and recommended APPROVE (the MEDIUM finding is the completion trade-off above). Codex (`gpt-6-astra`) found nothing. No HTTP/WS contract, auth or workflow change. --------- Co-authored-by: mp <mp@local>

Rebased onto main
This changes queued input and the pending-message WebSocket contract: it still needs a real review before merge, in addition to the required CI checks. This comment is not a formal approval. Before the push, only CodeRabbit was listed in the PR checks; required fork CI still needs maintainer approval and a green run. The new head has no check results yet. Review prepared with a code-review agent and checked against the code. The merge decision stays with the maintainer's merge pass. |

Merge pass gate review (Astra, gpt-6-astra) of 8c8014a: changes requested. The maintainer approved merging this once a real review passes; because it changes queued input, it needs one. The full report is Blocking
Threads: the code addresses five of the six threads, but all six are still open on GitHub. Please reply to and resolve the addressed ones; the capacity thread stays open until item 3 is fixed. Holds
Once these are fixed, the merge pass rechecks the new commits only. |

Thanks for the Pi transcript receipt contribution. I rebased the linear branch onto current main, preserving the contributor's commits and authorship, then added

Merge pass gate re-check of 2d41484 (Astra, gpt-6-astra): one blocker left. The report and an executable reproduction are in Fixed:
Blocking, G3: a late reconciliation releases another pane's capacity slot ( Reconciliation captures an active receipt, awaits the transcript lookup, and then releases that receipt's capacity. The race:

The existing capacity tests don't cover this race. |

Thanks for the contribution. Addressed G3 / B1 from the merge-pass recheck in two small commits on top of the contributor-preserving branch:
The regression runs the real pending handler, framing, reservation class, and filesystem transcript matcher. Awaited promises pause each of the identity and transcript lookups; the test invalidates P, admits an active receipt in Q at limit 1, appends P's late matching record, resumes P, and requires a further send to return Verification: full isolated pending-input contracts through Retained evidence in

Merge pass review-work report. Overall: PASSED. This outside-contributor PR changes queued input, so it got a real review: three Astra gate rounds (omo-native-gate-reviewer, gpt-6-astra). The maintainer approved merging it once a real review passed. The ext-pr-fixes lane rebased it and made the fixes, keeping the contributor's commits and authorship.
Final head:
Rebase onto d48e05b (62ca8e0): #1934 moved the shared store into its own module, and this PR conflicted with it in
Astra's round-3 approval still stands, because the code it reviewed didn't change. CodeRabbit did not review this PR (rate-limited or skipped). The reviews above stand in for it. |
Summary
Because Pi and Herdr do not provide a structured submission ID for this path, the UI limits these receipts to Ovis Chat submissions and reports terminal delivery separately from transcript confirmation.
