Change

In an OpenCode pane, a plain drag in the desktop terminal now goes to OpenCode, the same way a plain click already did (forwardClick). OpenCode reads the mouse and makes its own selection inside the panel the drag starts in, then copies it, as it does in a native terminal. Ovis no longer draws a whole-row xterm selection that runs across OpenCode's side panel.

  • Shift+drag (Option+drag on a Mac) still makes Ovis's own selection and copies on release, as xterm-based terminals do (the issue's first suggestion). A plain press in an OpenCode pane clears a selection made that way.
  • Every other pane is unchanged. Links, observe mode, a held pane and touch keep their old paths too.

Closes #2362. Thanks @matiemer for the report and the precise diagnosis.

Why by agent, not by mouse mode

On herdr 0.9.5, checked on the isolated test session:

  • herdr terminal attach turns on ?1000/1002/1003/1006 at the start of every stream, and the inner program's own mouse modes never reach the client. That makes term.modes.mouseTrackingMode "on" for every attached pane, a plain shell included.
  • herdr passes an SGR drag through to a program that turned the mouse on, and drops it for one that did not.
  • herdr's API reports no mouse mode. The pane's reported agent is the only fact available, so the rule keys on opencode rather than guessing a mode the browser cannot see (AGENTS.md: do not guess what herdr does not report).

Design reference: this follows the xterm/VS Code terminal convention. A program that reads the mouse gets the drag, and Shift (Option on macOS) forces the terminal's own selection.

Tests

  • scripts/terminal-arrows-clicks-regression.ts, new case 4. An attached pane reports opencode and runs a raw stdin logger with ?1000/1002/1006 on. A plain drag must reach the program as press, motion and release reports, with no xterm selection. Shift (Option on a Mac)+drag must select and send no button. A later plain drag must reach the program again and clear that selection.
    • Fails on origin/main: timed out: a plain drag received as press, moves and release (read "").
    • Passes with the fix. Cases 1–3 and the mirrored case 5 are unchanged and pass.
  • bun run check fast: green.

The test lives in the existing arrows-and-clicks browser script, which already owns the click-forwarding cases, rather than in a new script.

Trade-off: where OpenCode's copy lands

OpenCode copies its own selection on release, and part of that is OSC 52. herdr's terminal attach stream drops OSC 52 (herdrdev/herdr#4612, tracked here in #1145 and #1517). I re-checked this on herdr 0.9.5 through Ovis itself: printf '\033]52;c;…\a' in a pane shows no "copied to clipboard" pill and leaves the browser clipboard unchanged. As a result:

  • A browser on the PC that runs OpenCode gets the copy only if OpenCode also writes that PC's clipboard itself, as Claude Code's /copy does with pbcopy.
  • A remote device gets nothing from a plain drag in an OpenCode pane until herdr forwards OSC 52. Shift+drag (Option+drag) is the copy there. The guide says so.

This is the behaviour the issue asks for, a selection that stays in its panel. A plain drag that copied whole rows is what this PR gives up for OpenCode panes.

Reviews

  • omo-native-code-reviewer (32a3291): PASS, one MEDIUM. The guide had to say that OpenCode copies by itself and that Shift/Option+drag copies in Ovis. Fixed in the guide line above. Its LOWs were left as is: a drag does nothing when OpenCode is reported but the screen does not read the mouse (Shift+drag works there), and the guide names one modifier per platform although both work.
  • Codex Sol 6.1 fast xhigh:
    • Round 1 (32a3291) stopped before writing a report, after it tried to launch Chromium in its sandbox. Before that it found one gap: in case 4, the mark typed after the modifier drag cleared the selection, so the last step never tested a plain drag over a selection. Fixed in f084398: the plain drag follows the selection with nothing typed in between, and one mark checks that exactly one press and one release reached the program.
    • Round 2 (f084398), MEDIUM: moving the pointer back before that drag sent a hover report, which also cleared the selection, so a !term.hasSelection() guard on the OpenCode branch would have slipped through. Fixed in 19c4137: the plain drag now starts where the modifier drag let go, and the test asserts the selection is still up right before the press.
    • Round 3 (19c4137): PASS, no findings. It confirmed that such a guard now fails the test.

Notes (not changed here)

  • Other agents with column layouts (the issue mentions Claude Code's side-by-side diff) keep Ovis's selection. Opting one in is one entry once its mouse handling is confirmed.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • In OpenCode panes, dragging now interacts with OpenCode by default instead of selecting text across Ovis’s side panel.
    • Hold Shift, or Option on Mac, to select and copy text in Ovis; a subsequent unmodified drag returns to OpenCode.
  • Documentation
    • Updated the terminal guide with the drag and selection behavior.
  • Tests
    • Added regression coverage for OpenCode drag handling and modifier-based selection.

OpenCode panes now send plain drags to the program when mouse reporting is active. Shift-drag, or Alt-drag on macOS, retains Ovis text selection. The regression script checks both paths, and the guide and changelog describe the behavior.

Dragging in an OpenCode pane now goes to OpenCode. If a user has turned off OpenCode's mouse capture, a plain drag selects nothing until Shift/Option is held. On remote devices where OpenCode's copy does not reach the clipboard, a plain drag does not copy; Shift/Option+drag still does, and the guide says so. The impact is limited to OpenCode panes and has a workaround, so this is mergeable with owner awareness.

The description explains the behavior, scope, linked issue, design rationale, trade-offs, and validation results. It uses a "Tests" heading instead of the template's "Validation" heading, but the required validation information is present.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

For #2362, useTerminalMount identifies an opencode pane through agentRef. When mouse reporting is active, a plain press clears any Ovis selection and returns to the program path. Shift+drag or Option+drag keeps the existing Ovis selection path. Links, disabled stdin, and non-OpenCode panes keep their existing paths. Case 4 in scripts/terminal-arrows-clicks-regression.ts verifies plain drag reports, modifier selection, and a later plain drag over the selection. The changelog and guide document the behavior.

Explanation

The changed source adds the agent data only to terminal mouse handling. The regression test covers the new behavior and preserves the mirrored-pane case. The guide and changelog document #2362. No unrelated functional change is shown.

⚠️ Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Preserve browser copying until the attach stream forwards OSC 52.

With herdr 0.9.5, a plain drag no longer copies to the browser clipboard on remote devices. The new path creates no Ovis selection, and the attach stream drops OpenCode’s OSC 52 copy. A paste can therefore use stale clipboard contents.

Keep Ovis selection as the default until clipboard forwarding is available, or provide an explicit opt-in for OpenCode drag routing.

@coderabbitai On the Major (useTerminalMount.ts:688-690, "preserve browser copying until the attach stream forwards OSC 52"):

The facts in it are correct, and the PR body says the same under "Trade-off". herdr drops OSC 52 on terminal attach (herdrdev/herdr#4612, #1145, #1517), so on a remote device a plain drag in an OpenCode pane no longer puts anything on the browser clipboard.

I kept the change as it is. That is what #2362 asks for, and the maintainer approved fixing it this way. The copy that a plain drag made before was the defect itself: whole rows, OpenCode's side panel included. Shift+drag (Option+drag on a Mac) still copies in Ovis on every device, and the guide now says so.

Both alternatives have costs. Making this an opt-in setting adds a setting, and keeping Ovis's selection as the default keeps the reported bug. Either is a product call for the merge pass and the maintainer, not something this lane should settle alone. If they prefer the opt-in, it is a small follow-up: a device setting checked beside the agent in the same branch.

@devswha Understood. My Major finding treated a documented product trade-off as a defect that required a change. That was too strong. Restoring whole-row selection would preserve the behavior that #2362 seeks to fix. I will not insist on an opt-in setting.

The remote clipboard limitation remains real. Shift+drag, or Option+drag on macOS, provides the Ovis copy path.

Merging 19c4137 (closes #2362, thanks @matiemer for the report). In an OpenCode pane that reports the mouse, a plain drag in the desktop terminal now goes to OpenCode, as a click already did, so OpenCode selects inside the panel the drag starts in (and copies it itself) instead of Ovis selecting whole rows across its side panel. Shift+drag (Option+drag on a Mac) still selects and copies in Ovis; a press on a link or in a read-only terminal is unchanged. It goes by the agent herdr reports (opencode), never by reading the screen. Trade-off: herdr drops OSC 52 (herdr#4612), so OpenCode's own copy does not reach a remote browser's clipboard; Shift+drag copies there, as docs/guide.md now says. Reviewed by the merge pass: a 7-line early return in useTerminalMount's pointer-down path, other agents unaffected; the browser case (arrows-clicks case 4) fails on main.

…n again, tap to dictate (#2371)

## Change

Docs only: `docs/guide.md` now matches what 0.4.20 and current main do.
I checked each claim against the code that decides it (file:line in the
table below) and changed only `docs/guide.md`.

- **Letta Code.** The Supported agents cell is short now: it says what
Letta needs (`herdr integration install letta`) and that a turn shows
once it ends, with **Working…** in the meantime. The binding rules moved
to a new **Letta Code** subsection at the end of the section, which also
says what a running turn looks like and lists the three known
wrong-conversation cases of #2314.
- **Subscription usage.** Expired Claude and Codex accounts get **Sign
in again**. Hub accounts do not.
- **Chat.** The faded bubble a sent message shows until its turn is
written: the clock after 5 s, the bubble gone after a minute, no bubble
for `/…` and `!…` commands. Also the Claude Code bash-mode (`!`) card,
with stderr in red.
- **Terminal.** xterm.js 6 draws only whole frames, and Alt speeds the
wheel in a program that reads the mouse.
- **Voice input.** On a touch screen with the browser's own recognition,
you tap to start and tap to finish. An iPhone home-screen app asks for
the mic on the first tap, not when Voice input is turned on. When Siri &
Dictation is off, the mic says so. A mouse, or an API key, still allows
hold-to-talk.
- **Quick start.** On a slow link, the boot spinner shows while the app
downloads.
- **Manage sessions.** The Ultracode switch in New workspace and New
tab, linked to agent-commands.md.

The OpenCode drag text (#2368) was already accurate, so it is unchanged.
The agent install flow (`changelog.d/agent-install-run.md`) is left out:
`AgentSetupCard` is not mounted anywhere yet, so users have no surface
for it.

## Verification

- `bun run check fast`: green on b16eabc (typecheck, build, generated
files, 8666 unit tests pass, 0 fail). Also green on 0d8db7e and
d2527fe.
- No test: this is a prose-only change (repo rule: doc text is never
pinned by a test).

## Reviews

- **omo-native-code-reviewer** on 0d8db7e: APPROVE, no
CRITICAL/HIGH/MEDIUM. Its 5 LOW points were checked against the code and
applied in d2527fe: Alt speeds a trackpad wheel; Ultracode's
prerequisites; the faded bubble only in a native-session chat; the first
#2314 case needs Ovis not to have looked first; the iPhone home-screen
mic rule is its own bullet.
- **Codex Sol 6.1 fast xhigh**, round 1 on 0d8db7e: REQUEST CHANGES
with 5 MEDIUM. All five were checked against the code and fixed in
d2527fe:
- Letta: a second pane, or a turn not yet written, clears by itself,
without restarting `letta` (`letta-store.ts:195,288`).
- The bubble's clock means the turn is not written yet, not that the
agent has not taken it (`sentWaiting.ts`).
  - xterm.js 6 waits for a synchronized frame for up to a second.
- The Ultracode switch only asks Claude Code, which ignores it without
xhigh and dynamic workflows (`agentLaunchMode.ts`).
- Silence is trimmed only where the recorder can pause; otherwise the
whole recording is sent (`voice.ts:613-620`). This was a stale sentence
next to the touched text.
LOWs applied: start `letta` once before `herdr integration install
letta` (`agent-catalog.ts:875`); the 2 s record margin; 401/403 also
read as expired (`usage.ts:1052`); the voice level shows only when the
server transcribes (`voice.ts:491`).
- **Codex round 2** on d2527fe only: one MEDIUM. A Letta pane in the
home folder never binds (`letta-store.ts:255`), so "until letta starts
again" was wrong there. Fixed in b16eabc with Codex's own wording.
Under the review cap, there is no further round.
- Left as written (LOW): Codex noted that "rare" for the #2314 cases is
a judgment, not something the code shows. Each case needs a Letta folder
move plus a conversation switch Ovis did not see, which is why the guide
calls them rare.

Docs only, so no CodeRabbit review is requested (AGENTS.md: a docs
commit gets none).

…dget of its neighbour (#2372)

Found by the flake-hunt lane: Native Windows install failed and passed
on a rerun with no code change on run 40921939545 (#2368, 2026-10-29):
`server/omp-images.test.ts` "omp's pictures reach the chat > holds a
window, a record's shape and the picture, never a record whole however
large" `this test timed out after 5000ms`.

## Cause (test flake)

The test writes a transcript with two 20 MiB records and reads a picture
out of it twice, then asserts that no read allocated more than 1 MiB. It
ran on bun's default 5 s budget. On the hosted Windows runner it is
slow, not stuck:

- Passing Windows runs in the CI logs took 4.36, 4.47 and 4.83 s. Three
runs hit the budget, at 5002, 5002 and 5010 ms. Linux runs take 0.5-0.9
s.
- In the failing log the body was still running: about 57 ms after the
timeout it reached its second read, which then failed only because the
timeout's teardown had removed the fixture.
- The reader yields to the event loop on every window
(`server/codex-images.ts` `finishAsync`), so it cannot spin in place.

## Change

The test gets the 30 s budget its 40 MiB neighbour ("lets the event loop
run between windows...") already has, with the same comment that counts,
not time, are asserted.

## Proof

- **Before:** 3 timeouts at the 5 s default among the Windows runs read
(above). It does not fail on Linux, where it takes under 1 s, so there
is no local fail-first. The evidence is the Windows timing spread.
- **After:** `server/omp-images.test.ts` passes 21/21 locally, and `bun
run check fast` is ok.
- **The guard still catches the regression:** the reviewer changed
`recordShapeSteps` to read a whole record in a scratch worktree, and the
test failed on the allocation check (20971866 > 1048576), not on time.

Test-only.

## Reviews

- **omo-native-code-reviewer:** APPROVE, CLEAR. One LOW on the fragment
wording was fixed. A LOW outside this diff was noted: the guard only
watches `Buffer.alloc`, so a regression reading a whole record through
`Buffer.allocUnsafe` or `readFileSync` would pass it. Left as is.
- Test-only, so no Codex review (notes/pr-policy.md).
