Clean up front-door metadata across the public seamless repos #3

Closed

Description

@Bccorb

From the adoption report of 2026-10-19 (improvement plan item 6). The repo front doors disagree with each other and in places are wrong.

Repo settings (applied with gh)

  • Topics on seamless-auth-go, seamless-templates, seamless-auth-messaging, homebrew-seamless (none today)
  • Remove agplv3 from seamless-auth-admin-dashboard (it is Apache-2.0)
  • Remove react from seamless-auth-server
  • One brand topic across all public seamless repos (today split between seamless-auth and seamlessauth)
  • Description on seamless-auth-messaging (none today)
  • Consistent homepage fields (today a mix of seamlessauth.com, docs, the api repo, and none)

Code changes (own issues and PRs)

npm

  • Deprecate the @seamless-auth/server placeholder (0.0.0, 0.0.1-beta.0) in favour of @seamless-auth/express, @seamless-auth/fastify and @seamless-auth/nextjs. Needs a maintainer's npm auth.

Applied 2026-10-20

  • Brand topic is seamless-auth on every public seamless repo except homebrew-seamless, which only ships Seamless Glance. seamlessauth was removed from api, react and cli.
  • Homepages: seamless-auth-api keeps https://seamlessauth.com; react, server, types, python, rust, go, messaging, cli, templates and the admin dashboard point at https://docs.seamlessauth.com; homebrew-seamless points at the seamless-glance repo.
  • seamless-auth-messaging and homebrew-seamless descriptions set.

Still open: the two linked PRs, and the npm deprecation, which needs a maintainer's npm login:

npm deprecate @seamless-auth/server "Use @seamless-auth/express, @seamless-auth/fastify or @seamless-auth/nextjs"
