What changed

Two beginner-relevant features shipped in Copilot CLI v1.0.32 (April 17, 2026) that were not yet reflected in the course content.

New features found

Feature Release Notes
auto model selection v1.0.32 Select auto to let Copilot pick the best available model automatically
Document file attachments v1.0.32 Attach supported document files (e.g. PDFs) to prompts via @ syntax

Other updates reviewed but not requiring course changes:

  • /ask command — already documented in Ch 01
  • /statusline / /footer — already documented in Ch 01
  • Short session ID prefixes for --resume — course already showed short IDs (abc123)
  • Usage limit warnings (75%/90%) — noted in release but doesn't require dedicated documentation

Course sections updated

Chapter 01 — Setup and First Steps (01-setup-and-first-steps/README.md)

  • Switching Models — added a tip explaining the auto model option so beginners don't need to worry about picking a specific model

Chapter 02 — Context and Conversations (02-context-conversations/README.md)

  • Basic @ Patterns table — added a @document.pdf row and a callout explaining that PDFs and other document files can be attached alongside code files
  • Working with Images section — renamed to Working with Images and Documents and added an example showing how to attach a PDF requirements document alongside code
