v1.64.1

Bug Fixes

  • #43247 [Bug]: _electron.launch intermittently loses a packaged app's first window since 1.64.0
  • #43242 [Regression]: Chromium 155+ aborts a preflighted cross-origin redirect whenever any route is registered (net::ERR_ABORTED)

v1.64.0

🧰 WebMCP

New page.webmcp and frame.webmcp give access to the tools that a page registers through the experimental WebMCP browser API, so you can test them like any other part of your app:

const browser = await chromium.launch({ args: ['--enable-features=WebMCP'] });
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.goto('https://example.com');
for (const tool of await page.webmcp.tools())
console.log(tool.name, tool.description);
const result = await page.webmcp.callTool('add', { a: 2, b: 40 });
console.log(result.content[0].text); // "42"

Playwright MCP also supports WebMCP by default, with page-defined tools offered to the agent as webmcp_<tool>. Pass --no-webmcp to opt out.

playwright-cli exposes them as well:

playwright-cli webmcp-list
playwright-cli webmcp-call search_catalog --params '{"query":"cats"}'

🎬 Better videos

Videos can now be recorded at a custom frame rate, and the decorations for actions are styled with plain CSS:

// playwright.config.ts
import { defineConfig } from '@playwright/test';
export default defineConfig({
use: {
video: {
mode: 'on',
size: { width: 1920, height: 1080 },
fps: 60,
show: {
actions: {
style: {
point: 'width: 20px; height: 20px; border-radius: 50%; background: red',
</tr></table>

v10.4.0

Features

feat: Add --glob-symlinks to follow symbolic links when matching globs (#9342)

Summary

cspell lint can now follow symbolic links in glob searches, with --glob-symlinks. Glob searches skip linked files and linked directories by default, so a tree made of links, such as Bazel runfiles, found nothing to check.

Closes #7700.

Feature

cspell lint --glob-symlinks "**"
  • --glob-symlinks follows symbolic links, and searches linked directories, when matching globs. Links are followed wherever they point.
  • CSPELL_GLOB_SYMLINKS=true does the same for a whole job. --no-glob-symlinks overrides it.
  • API: globSymlinks in the lint options.
  • It can't be set in a configuration file.
  • Files are reported by the path through the link. A file reached by two paths is checked under both.
  • It applies only to glob searches. For --file, --files, and --file-list documents, use --follow-symlinks.
  • The design decisions are recorded in docs/ADRs/glob-symlinks/.
  • Link loops, such as a link to a parent directory, are stopped by the glob search after one level.

feat: Respect COLUMNS for help and table width (#9358)

Summary

Help, and the tables from cspell trace and cspell dictionaries, now follow the COLUMNS environment variable. That lets you choose a narrower width, which helps with large fonts and screen magnifiers. The help in the cspell README now fits on npmjs.com without scrolling sideways.

Feature

Set COLUMNS to pick the output width:

Updates lint-staged from 17.4.1 to 17.6.0

Release notes

Sourced from lint-staged's releases.

v17.6.0

Minor Changes

  • #1850 938d3f4 - Task functions like { title, task } can now use a logger function log() to emit output while the task runs. By default, the output will only be visible if the task fails, unless the --verbose option was used. Additionally, when the task rejects, the error will be shown in the output.

    import { defineConfig } from 'lint-staged/config'
    export default defineConfig({
    '*': {
    title: 'Fail if PDF files are committed',
    task: async (filepaths, { log }) => {
    const pdfFiles = filepaths.filter((f) => f.toLowerCase().endsWith('.pdf'))
    if (pdfFiles.length > 0) {
    log('PDF files should not be committed: %s', pdfFiles)
    throw new Error('Failed')
    }
    },
    },
    })

  • #1854 30562bc - lint-staged now stages changes to all tracked files modified by tasks, including files that weren’t originally staged or didn’t match the configured globs. This can happen when your task has side-effects, or it's a function that ignores the staged files like () => "prettier --write .".

    If you have unstaged changes in a file and the task also edits that file, your unstaged changes will be staged too. Use --hide-unstaged to hide your changes while tasks run.

Patch Changes

  • #1860 4296532 - The assignment of staged files to lint-staged configuration files (when using multiple, for example in a monorepo) has been rewritten to be more efficient. As a reminder, each staged file is assigned to exactly one configuration (the closest one), even if that config doesn't match the file in its globs.

  • #1861 c45f28a - Fix running parallel tasks for a single glob, when tasks are created by a function. Nesting one level of arrays inside an array of tasks will result in the inner tasks running in parallel. This behavior should now be consistent when creating tasks using functions. In the following example eslint and prettier will run in parallel (for all files, when any JS files are staged):

    import { defineConfig } from 'lint-staged/config'
    export default defineConfig({
    '*.js': () => [['eslint --max-warnings=0 .', 'prettier --list-different .']],
    })

  • #1859 f0ea69d - Various performance improvements from skipping redundant internal Git calls.

  • #1856 69d7d17 - Partially staged changes are hidden in a uniquely-named patch file to avoid multiple invocations of lint-staged overwriting it. This makes it safer to run lint-staged in multiple worktrees at the same time.

v17.5.1

Patch Changes

  • #1852 bfcca94 - Fix TypeScript issue TS1254 from defineConfig() by changing the signature from const to a function:

    A 'const' initializer in an ambient context must be a string or numeric literal or literal enum reference.

In the following example eslint and prettier will run in parallel (for all files, when any JS files are staged):

    import { defineConfig } from 'lint-staged/config'
    export default defineConfig({
    '*.js': () => [['eslint --max-warnings=0 .', 'prettier --list-different .']],
    })

17.5.1

Patch Changes

  • #1852 bfcca94 - Fix TypeScript issue TS1254 from defineConfig() by changing the signature from const to a function:

Updates lockfile-lint from 5.0.1 to 5.1.0

Changelog

Sourced from lockfile-lint's changelog.

5.1.0

Minor Changes

  • #222 578511e580a4c3c398ba7f26fc0465e449f39516 Thanks @deveshsinghal09! - Add opt-in strict SHA-512 integrity validation that detects missing or malformed hashes while allowing Git, local directory, linked workspace and bundled dependencies.

    Exempt Yarn Classic GitHub codeload archives only when pinned to a full 40-hex commit. Resolve npm bundled dependencies against their nearest non-bundled ancestor before flattening: v2/v3 require a non-empty bundleDependencies declaration and an ancestor with valid SHA-512 integrity or an independent source exemption. npm v1 verifies the ancestor but cannot confirm the bundle declaration. Unverified flags and HTTP(S)/local tarball downloads still require integrity.

    Report Yarn Berry as one marked unsupported-format error. The CLI exits non-zero without calling an unsupported format a security finding; other failing validators still report their security findings.

    Require commit pins for all Git-source exemptions, and recognize percent-encoded local tarball extensions before granting directory exemptions.

Minor Changes

  • #472 2dff53d Thanks @jacob-ebey! - Replaces the second context argument in our streaming functions with an options object, the context moves to the third position.

    Streaming is considered alpha so we're making this breaking change deliberately as part of a minor.
