For example the Lineage or Freephone- user, who want to be free from apple and google.

Describe your proposed solution

Please let the app search for other push-Services (for example Threema), if this is usable.

If no service is available: Let the user at least configure an adjustable pull- call each x minutes for a possibility to get messages.

@oleksandr-nc Hello. Yes, it is the Version 24.0.2 from F-Droid on lineage.
To receive the new messages i have to start the app manually.
There seems not running any service in the background for push or pull any news.
All possible rights are allowed, except pictures, videos and location, this is set to ask.

Why i get a popup while configuration with the Message:
"Google play Dienste sind nicht verfügbar. Benachrichtigungen werden nicht unterstützt."
"Google play services are not available. Notifications will not be supported." ?

@JS-OnAir this repo does not contain such strings. Sorry to hear that you have such problem, but probably the best solution here is to ask on help.nextcloud.com forum regarding this problem.
