The binding-disabled branch waits only 100 ms after

The module entry exports the `$DurableObject` class and forwards WebSocket upgrades to it when its binding is declared. `cloudflare_durable` is deprecated.

When the Wrangler config declares the `$DurableObject` binding, the cloudflare-dev entry exports the built-in class (nitro builder and Vite) and upgrades are forwarded to instance `server`, like in production. Also covers websocket route hooks in `cloudflare-dev` (fixed by env-runner 0.3.5, #4851).

…eObject` binding in dev Also asserts the full timeout in the no-binding WebSocket pub/sub test.
…flare runner Uses env-runner 0.3.7's `crossws` runner option instead of hardcoding `options.cloudflare` in the dev entries.

merging to iterate @RihanArfan feel free to amend in another PR
The experimental
cloudflare_durablepreset existed mainly to send WebSocket upgrades to a Durable Object, which gives shared pub/sub and hibernation. This PR moves that intocloudflare_modulebefore RC, and makescloudflare-devbehave the same way.The crossws Cloudflare adapter already sends
handleUpgradetoenv[bindingName]when that binding exists, and falls back to a plain Worker WebSocket when it doesn't. So the module entry only needs to export the class. This PR now also includes #4851 and #4852, so there is one PR to merge. It resolves #4847.
Changes
Production (
cloudflare_module)cloudflare_moduleentry now exports the$DurableObjectclass, moved toruntime/_durable.ts. Its adapter now usesbindingName: "$DurableObject"andinstanceName: "server". The instance name is the same as before, so existing Durable Object state and connections carry over.cloudflare:durable:initandcloudflare:durable:alarmhooks fire.cloudflare_durableis now a deprecated preset that extendscloudflare_moduleand logs a warning. Existing configs keep working with the same wrangler setup.ctxExt.durableFetch. It was never passed to user code.Dev (
cloudflare-dev, miniflare runner)$DurableObject(as a binding or inexports, in the selected environment, from the file or from the inlinecloudflare.wranglerconfig), the dev entry exports the same class from_durable.ts. A binding counts when it has noscript_name, or when itsscript_nameis the Worker's own name (<name>-<env>or the env'sname), as inwrangler dev.cloudflare-server-entrywrapper (server entry exports) also re-exports the class, so the entry is still wrapped only once.#nitro/virtual/dev-worker-exports, which#nitro/virtual/server-entryexposes andvite/dev-entry.mjsmerges into the Worker exports. The class runs in the module runner and shares module state with the routes.crosswsrunner option (feat(miniflare):crosswsoption for crossws Cloudflare options unjs/env-runner#88) tobindingName: "$DurableObject",instanceName: "server"in the miniflare runner options (src/dev/runner-deps.ts). Upgrades go to the same Durable Object instance as in production, and the dev entries stay generic ({ resolve }).cloudflare-dev(fix(cloudflare): call websocket hooks incloudflare-dev#4851) needed env-runner 0.3.5, which is covered by the bump; only the test is added here.Docs
Testing
cloudflare-module: the built entry exports$DurableObject, and Miniflare serves app routes through it when the binding is declared. With the binding, WebSocket pub/sub reaches the other peer and the peer is handled by theserverinstance. Without the binding, the Worker handles the connection with no pub/sub, as before.cloudflare-dev: one WebSocket test for each of nitro builder and Vite, with and without the binding. It checks that the route's hooks run, that pub/sub between two peers works only with the binding, and that upgrades reach theserverinstance. The binding is declared with a self-namedscript_namein a Wrangler env. The binding cases fail when the class is not exported (HTTP 500), when the self-namedscript_nameis not recognized, or without thecrosswsrunner option (instancecrossws).cloudflare-dev,cloudflare-module,nitro-devandtest/vite/websockettests pass on rollup and rolldown, and typecheck and lint pass. Not verified: the
cloudflare:durable:alarmhook in dev, and bindings declared only throughCLOUDFLARE_ENV(the code handles it, but no test covers it).🤖 Generated with AI assistant
