It's a plain def returning the pool, which is already an async context manager, so async with logfire.agent_sandboxes() works without an await.
The API key comes from the api_key argument, then configure(api_key=...), then LOGFIRE_API_KEY. Without one it raises LogfireConfigError.
The URL is wss://<region host>/monty-ws/, derived from the key's region through advanced.generate_base_url(), so advanced.base_url for self-hosted is respected. url= overrides it.
It sends Authorization: Bearer <key>. A user-supplied connect_headers is merged in and wins on conflicts.
It calls instrument_monty() by default; pass instrument=False to skip it.
The other AsyncMontyWebsocket kwargs are inlined with Monty's defaults.
Requires the new agent-sandboxes extra (pydantic-monty-client>=1.0.0), which is also forwarded by the logfire meta package.
The logfire-api shim raises RuntimeError, because there's no no-op pool it could return.
Docs are in #2670 so this can be released for beta testing first. agent_sandboxes is filtered out of reference/api/logfire.md until then.
Tests in tests/test_agent_sandboxes.py use a local WebSocket relay to a real monty subprocess, so code actually runs end to end. I haven't run the full suite locally; CI will tell.
Returns a pydantic_monty.AsyncMontyWebsocket pool authenticated with a Logfire
API key, with the URL inferred from the key's region. Requires the new
agent-sandboxes extra, and enables instrument_monty() unless instrument=False.

Add logfire.agent_sandboxes() for Logfire Agent Sandboxes

Adds a sessions page covering what state is saved, when sessions are parked,
resume by session ID, dump() snapshots as checkpoints, forking, ephemeral
sessions, retention, and how these map to terms used elsewhere. Fixes the
claim in the Python page that state is discarded when a session closes.

Adds logfire.agent_sandboxes() to connect the Python SDK to hosted Pydantic Monty sandbox pools, with API-key authentication and optional tracing. Public documentation is deferred to #2670.
Changes:
Adds the pool factory with regional URL selection, configurable headers, and Monty options.
Exposes the API through the SDK and shim, with an agent-sandboxes installation extra.
Adds local WebSocket integration tests and temporarily hides the API from generated reference docs.

The SDK adds an agent_sandboxes method that creates a Monty WebSocket client. It supports API-key and URL configuration, optional instrumentation, connection headers, and forwarded pool options. The new optional dependency and module-level exports make the feature available through the SDK and package API. The fallback API raises an installation-guidance error. Tests cover connection behavior, configuration, option forwarding, and API availability.

Sandbox creation can fail when LOGFIRE_API_KEY is set after configuration. The PR is mergeable with owner awareness, though the fallback should be fixed.
