Summary:

Text accepts aria-live in its types (TextProps includes AccessibilityProps), but Text.js does not map it the way View.js does: the prop reaches the native side as aria-live, which is not read there, so a Text with aria-live never announces its changes. accessibilityLiveRegion on the same Text works.

This maps aria-live to accessibilityLiveRegion in Text, the same way View does (off becomes none).

Related: #59329

Changelog:

[ANDROID] [FIXED] - aria-live on Text now sets accessibilityLiveRegion

Test Plan:

Added a Fantom test: <Text aria-live="polite"> renders with accessibilityLiveRegion="polite".

On a device (Samsung SM-A276B, Android 16, TalkBack on, React Native 0.88.0, Expo SDK 58 development build), a counter in <Text aria-live="polite"> is not announced when it changes; the same counter in <Text accessibilityLiveRegion="polite"> is announced on every change. With this change aria-live produces the same native prop, which the Fantom test checks.
