Design change, waiting for visual approval before merge (screenshots of the real app were sent in the conversation; the README and guide pictures are retaken after approval).

Why

At the default window the pages panel and the History panel were almost the page's own colour, small grey text was hard to read, the top bar was thin and wrapped onto two rows, and a page in the list was a line of grey text.

What

  • Contrast. The side panels have their own tokens (--panel, --panel-2, --panel-line), clearly apart from the page in light and dark; --ink-2/--ink-3 are darker. A unit test reads the style sheet and checks WCAG ratios (panel against page, text on the panel).
  • Pages look like files. A 14 by 18 px sheet with a folded corner, drawn with the line weight of the app's other icons and centred under the 16 px icons above it; the name (regular, wraps to two lines instead of being cut off; bold for the open file, whose sheet is filled); under it the kind of note and how long ago (now, 5 min, 2 h). The list of pages now knows each page's note format.
  • History entries are cards; section labels are uppercase small labels.
  • Top bar. Taller (grows with the window, 56 to 72 px), a hairline under it, buttons 34 px. In a narrow window the buttons show only their pictures (names stay for screen readers and tooltips), so it stays on one line; its actions stay together at the right, also when a long status makes it wrap.

Design rules used instead of guessing: sizes from the app's own type scale (11/13 px), a 4 px grid for spacing and heights, icon weight equal to the existing icons, text contrast checked numerically.

Checked

  • Each commit passes typecheck, lint, formatting and the unit tests.
  • New tests: contrast tokens (mutation-checked with faded colours), the format in the page list, and three e2e tests (file cards, panels apart from the page in both themes, top bar on one row at 1280 px with History open; mutation-checked).
  • Full pnpm e2e: 94 passed.

The page summaries carry the format id (none for a blank page), so the list can say what
kind of note each page is.

…turdier top bar

- The pages and History panels have their own colours (--panel, --panel-2, --panel-line), clearly apart from the page in both
themes, and the secondary text colours are darker so small text is readable (checked against WCAG contrast ratios by a
unit test that reads the style sheet).
- A page in the list is a small file: a 14 by 18 px sheet with a folded corner (the weight of the app's other icons), its
name, and under it the kind of note and when it changed. Names wrap to two lines instead of being cut off; the open file is
bold and its picture is filled.
- History entries are cards. The top bar is taller (it grows with the window), has a hairline under it, larger buttons, and keeps
to one line in a narrow window by showing only the pictures of its buttons (their names stay for screen readers and tooltips).
The page's actions stay together at the right, also when the bar has to wrap.
