ieum is a portable Meshtastic node designed for everyday carry, long battery life, and quick status checking without relying on a phone.
ieum is an independent hardware project based on Meshtastic. It aims to be a compact, self-contained LoRa mesh device with a practical enclosure, e-ink display, USB-C charging, and low-power operation.
ieum is inspired by the Korean word 이음, which carries the meaning of connecting and linking things together.
Just as Meshtastic connects devices through a LoRa mesh network, ieum aims to be a portable node that helps connect people, places, and information in everyday life.
- Portable Meshtastic node for daily carry
- E-ink display for always-visible device status
- Low-power design for extended battery operation
- USB-C charging with battery power-path support
- External LoRa antenna for better range and placement flexibility
- Bluetooth connection for use with the Meshtastic app
- Two hardware buttons for basic on-device interaction
- Designed as a complete device, not just a development board stack
- Long runtime from a single-cell lithium battery
- Durable enclosure suitable for carrying in a bag
- Clear status display without relying only on a phone
- Serviceable hardware for debugging, testing, and future revisions
- Practical RF layout and antenna placement for real-world use
This project is currently in the prototype design stage.
The hardware, enclosure, and firmware configuration may change as the first prototypes are built and tested.
Meshtastic is an open-source project for off-grid LoRa mesh communication.
This project is not officially affiliated with Meshtastic.
