fix(schemas): parse "false" as false in tool boolean arguments - #848
Conversation
Tool input schemas used z.coerce.boolean(), which runs Boolean(value).
Boolean("false") is true, so clients that send booleans as strings got
the opposite of what they asked for, e.g. squash: "false" squashed the
merge and confidential: "false" made the issue confidential.
Use the existing string-aware coerceBooleanString helper for every tool
argument. It accepts true/false, "true"/"false" (case-insensitive,
trimmed) and 1/0, and rejects anything else. Defaults move inside the
preprocess pipe so the generated JSON schemas stay the same.
GitLab response schemas keep z.coerce.boolean().
Add tests for the string values and a guard test that fails if a
registered tool input schema uses z.coerce.boolean() again.

| - Boolean tool arguments now parse the string `"false"` as `false` ([#848](https://github.com/zereight/gitlab-mcp/pull/848)). Other non-boolean strings such as `""` or `"yes"`, previously coerced to `true`, are now rejected with a validation error. |

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Correct the empty-string example.
z.coerce.boolean() previously converted "" to false, not true. The new parser rejects "". Separate that behavior from strings such as "yes", which were previously converted to true.
