test: run the excluded mock suites in test:mock - #851
Conversation
scripts/run-mock-tests.sh skipped 13 test files, so test:mock never ran them. Wire in the 11 that run against the mock GitLab server and update the ones whose expectations drifted from current server behavior: - client-pool-test, dynamic-api-url-test, dynamic-routing-tests: list the mock GitLab hosts in GITLAB_ALLOWED_HOSTS so X-GitLab-API-URL can route to them. client-pool-test uses a second local mock server as its third pool entry instead of an external hostname. - dynamic-routing-tests: set STREAMABLE_HTTP_AUTH_TOKEN where the server uses a server-side token, and enable all toolsets for the scenario that calls list_pipelines. - multi-server-test: a header URL that is not configured is refused at connect; assert that instead of a failed tool call. - no-proxy-integration-test: the token is checked when the session starts, so the proxy error can surface on connect. The server pass now matches *-test.ts. remote-auth-tests.ts and test-all-transport-server.ts still need a live GitLab token and stay excluded.

Review comments at @test/multi-server-test.ts:
- Line 189: Update the rejection assertion in the test around
client.connect(mcpUrl) to match the existing missing-authentication-header
response, rather than the generic “Failed to connect” message. Keep the test’s
valid credentials and host-validation scenario unchanged.
Review comments at @test/no-proxy-integration-test.ts:
- Around line 130-133: Update the `assert.rejects` check in this test to match
the expected proxy connection error, rather than only supplying an assertion
message. Allow the matching rejection to come from either `client.connect` or
`client.callTool`, and ensure unrelated failures such as authentication errors
do not pass.
Review comments at @test/README.md:
- Line 43: Update the test naming patterns in the “Adding a test” instructions
to include `*-test.ts`, matching the pattern selected by Pass 3.

multi-server-test now matches the missing-header response instead of any connect failure. no-proxy-integration-test matches the rejection and checks that the mock GitLab server saw no request, so a failure that skipped the proxy no longer passes. test/README.md lists *-test.ts in the naming guidance.

Summary
scripts/run-mock-tests.shskipped 13 test files, sotest:mocknever ran them (no npm script or workflow did either). This PR wires in the 11 that run against the mock GitLab server. It also updates the tests whose expectations no longer match how the server behaves today. Now run by
test:mock:config-allowed-groups.test.ts,no-proxy-test.tscallback-proxy-tests.ts,client-pool-test.ts,dynamic-api-url-test.ts,dynamic-routing-tests.ts,multi-server-test.ts,no-proxy-integration-test.ts,test-mr-diffs-filter.ts,test-mr-file-diffs.ts,test-token-optimizations.tsThe server-pass glob now matches
*-test.ts. Before, it listed onlyremote-auth-simple-test.ts. A dry run of bothfindexpressions shows exactly these 11 files added, none dropped, and no file in both passes.Test fixes
client-pool-test.tsX-GitLab-API-URLmust name a host fromGITLAB_API_URL/GITLAB_ALLOWED_HOSTSGITLAB_ALLOWED_HOSTS. The third pool entry is now a second local mock server instead ofgitlab-3.example.com, so the test makes no external network calldynamic-api-url-test.tsGITLAB_ALLOWED_HOSTSdynamic-routing-tests.tsSTREAMABLE_HTTP_AUTH_TOKEN. Scenario 4: header URL not configured, andlist_pipelinesis not in the default toolsetsSTREAMABLE_HTTP_AUTH_TOKEN(Scenario 1 still checks that client headers are not forwarded to GitLab; Scenario 3 sets it too so it still fails only on the dynamic-URL rule). Scenario 4 setsGITLAB_ALLOWED_HOSTSandGITLAB_TOOLSETS=allmulti-server-test.tsno-proxy-integration-test.tsconnectassert.failthat its owncatchswallowedtest/README.mdis updated to match.Still excluded
remote-auth-tests.tsandtest-all-transport-server.tsneed a live GitLab token andTEST_PROJECT_ID; theyprocess.exit(1)without one.remote-auth-tests.tsalso sends a client-chosenmcp-session-idoninitialize, which the server now answers with 404. So it needs a rewrite onto the mock server, not a re-enable.remote-auth-simple-test.tsalready covers the mock-based remote auth cases. I'd do both as a follow-up.Test plan
