specifically on POST /mcp after its rate-limiting and authentication middleware,
preserving parsing before the /mcp handler reads req.body; leave unrelated
routes such as /health unparsed by this middleware.

Apply the configurable limit to authenticated SSE messages and parse Streamable HTTP payloads only after request controls. Related code-ops/code!8255

Approving.
Dropping the global app.use(express.json()) does not leave another route on this app without a parser. POST /mcp is the only handler that reads req.body, and mcpJsonBodyParser runs after rejectUnknownStatefulSession, mcpRequestRateLimit, mcpBearerAuth, and rejectForeignSession.
OAuth does not use that global parser. SDK mcpAuthRouter (@modelcontextprotocol/sdk 1.31.0) installs its own:
POST /register→express.json()inclientRegistrationHandlerPOST /tokenandPOST /revoke→express.urlencoded()GET/POST /authorize(consent form) →express.urlencoded()beforereq.bodyis read
/callback, /downloads/:type, /health, and /metrics are GET and never read a JSON body. GET/DELETE /mcp do not pass a parsed body through.
SSE POST /messages parses only after DNS-rebinding, auth, and a live session check, then passes req.body into handlePostMessage, which is what gets past the SDK's 4 MiB raw-body fallback.
Checked locally without real tokens: the new note-schema, Streamable HTTP body-limit, and SSE body-limit tests pass. A 1,000,000-character note is parsed and then rejected with 401, not 413.
Allow large MCP note payloads by default while keeping the parser limit configurable for remote deployments.
