📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added support for IEEE 754 total ordering in Parquet column metadata.
    • Parquet metadata now supports total NaN counts for columns and per-page NaN counts for floating-point data.
    • NaN counts and column ordering information are preserved when reading and writing Parquet metadata.
  • Tests

    • Expanded Parquet metadata validation to verify round-trip preservation of null and NaN statistics.

Parquet metadata types and compact protocol handling now support optional NaN counts and the IEEE_754_TOTAL_ORDER column order. Footer round-trip tests cover NaN statistics and the added column order.

Changes: Parquet metadata support

Layer / File(s) Summary
NaN counts and column order in metadata
cpp/include/cudf/io/parquet_schema.hpp, cpp/src/io/parquet/compact_protocol_reader.cpp, cpp/src/io/parquet/compact_protocol_writer.cpp, cpp/tests/io/experimental/parquet_footer_facade_test.cpp
The metadata types add optional total and per-page NaN counts and the IEEE_754_TOTAL_ORDER option. The compact protocol reader and writer handle the new fields and order. Footer tests cover NaN statistics and the new order.

The test now uses valid floating-point metadata. Written page indexes still omit optional per-page NaN counts, but current readers are unaffected, making this a low-risk follow-up rather than a merge blocker.

@ttnghia I know a couple lines here are borrowed from your PR #24419. Depending on merge order, we can just pull in changes (should be trivial).

Please make sure no conflict with #24419.

Lol I was just mentioning that #24752 (comment). I think both PRs have the same diff at one place so things should be clean. If there's any conflict it would be really trivial

@ttnghia I think #24419 just adds another field to this: INT96_TIMESTAMP_ORDER = 3 and pins all of these. Not done here. If there's any conflict it would just be here. You can easily accept your own changes.
